Puthuppally: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the poet and President of Kerala Sahitya Akademi K Satchidanandan had expressed the thoughts of the people of Kerala when he said that the LDF government should not come to power for a third time. Speaking to reporters in Puthuppally, Satheesan said that he expressed the unanimous feelings of anyone looking at the society and government today.
“Being a poet and a man of words, what Satchidanandan said came from his heart. If this government comes to power a third time, the situation will be fearsome. Kerala is in a state of collapse”, Satheesan said.
Inaugurating Chandy Oommen’s constituency tour, he clarified that the UDF is indeed facing the Puthuppally byelections by keeping Oommen Chandy close. This by-election is an opportunity to fight against communalism, fascism, corruption and against the two governments that have made life miserable for the people while keeping Oommen Chandy’s memories alive, he said. He claimed that the UDF will undoubtedly face this election politically and democratically.
This election will expose the Chief Minister and his colleagues who have fallen into the mire of corruption. “We have levelled six essential corruption allegations against the CM, including irregular financial dealings of his daughter’s company”, Satheesan claimed.
“Even though we made the allegations citing evidence, the CM did not have the guts to respond. Kerala’s CM is afraid to meet the media, afraid of the people and only goes to party meetings. He knows that the little comrades there won’t ask him any pressing questions. On this occasion, we award Pinarayi Vijayan with the title of the first media-fearing Chief Minister of Kerala”, he said.
“He is not double-hearted (Iratta changan) but rather hollow-hearted. He is a broadcaster who does not entertain questions. It was arrogance of power that made his son-in-law Riyas utter that those leveling accusations should be given medicines”, Satheesan opined.
Despite being the son of a former CM, Chandy Oommen has never been pompous, he said. Satheesan also asked the people of Puthuppally to help Chandy Oommen win. He called the candidate the pride of Congress who is highly educated and capable of bringing together people from all walks of life.
