Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea in Singapore on 19 September

Guwahati: The wife of late singer Zubeen Garg, Garima, on Saturday returned his post‑mortem report to police, saying it is not her “personal document” and that investigators should decide whether it should be made public.
Speaking after CID Additional SP Moramee Das delivered the report to her, Garima said she had full confidence in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of Garg’s death in Singapore last month.
“I personally thought and took suggestions also. As the investigation is going on, I did not consider the report as my personal document. So, I have returned the same with the investigating officer,” she told reporters.
She said her only wish is for a thorough and timely investigation, so the truth can come out.
Commenting on recent claims made by Garg’s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami — who alleged that the singer was poisoned — Garima asked why such a serious claim was not made earlier.
“If Shekhar had known it, why did he hide it for so long? Anyway, a probe is going on. If anyone has done so, then he must get the strongest possible punishment,” she said.
“Why was he (Zubeen) pushed to such a level? He loved everyone so much. He only knew how to love people and nothing else. He also taught me only to trust people,” she added.
Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea in Singapore on 19 September, where he had travelled to attend the Northeast India Festival. The initial cause of death was reported as drowning, but the case has since taken a dramatic turn following multiple allegations and arrests.
Garima said she and Garg’s sister Palme Borthakur gave detailed statements to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), including how long she had known Zubeen. She urged the authorities to ensure the case is not diverted or politicised.
She also said a great deal of information was being circulated in the media, and it remained unclear what was true and who was behind it.
“I have lost my man. I will never get him back, but he must get proper justice. He was a man of all people. He loved each and every one by giving away everything he had. No injustice can happen to such a person,” she said.
Four individuals — including Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha — have been arrested and remanded to 14 days in police custody.
