New Delhi: Even as missiles fly and diplomacy staggers, a tweet war erupted on Friday between India and Pakistan — this time, not in no man’s land, but in no-filter land: social media.

The Economic Affairs Division of Pakistan took to X to post a heartfelt appeal, tagging @WorldBank and requesting international loans in light of “heavy losses inflicted by enemy” and a crashing stock market. The tweet, wrapped in patriotic hashtags like #PakistanZindabad, aimed to rally both global lenders and domestic morale.

However, it did not take long for India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) to take a swipe — and it wasn’t diplomatic. Retweeting Pakistan’s post, PIB India asked in Hindi:
“Yeh koi tareeka hoti hein bheek maangne ka?” (Is this how you beg for money?)

The troll by PIB India was a cheeky reference to a popular dialogue from the Hindi film Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, directed by Rohit Shetty.

The roast set X ablaze, with Indian users flooding the thread with memes featuring donation jars, “Loan le lo” remix videos, and even edited images of Pakistan’s Finance minister holding a QR code.

While the Line of Control saw drones and artillery, the line of comments saw sarcasm and emojis.

No official response yet from Islamabad. However, one thing’s clear: in this digital battlefield, the PIB’s tweet struck harder than a precision strike.
