New Delhi: The government has reduced the windfall tax on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for the fortnight beginning September 16.
The special additional excise duty (SAED), along with the road and infrastructure cess on diesel exports, has been cut to ₹20 per litre from ₹25 per litre.

The SAED on ATF exports has been reduced to ₹15 per litre from ₹19 per litre.
The duty on petrol exports has been cut to ₹0.50 per litre from ₹1.50 per litre in the previous fortnight.
The Finance Ministry said in a notification that the revised rates would take effect from September 16.
The government imposed an export duty on diesel and ATF on March 27 amid escalating tensions in West Asia. The rates have since been revised every fortnight.
The levy was extended to petrol exports from May 16.
There has been no change in the existing duty rates on petrol and diesel cleared for domestic consumption, the ministry said.
The windfall tax was introduced to increase the domestic availability of petroleum products amid the conflict in West Asia.
It was also aimed at preventing exporters from benefiting disproportionately from differences between domestic and international fuel prices as global crude oil prices rose following the outbreak of the conflict.
