New Delhi: Raihan Vadra, the 25-year-old son of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and businessman Robert Vadra, has recently been in the spotlight following news of his engagement to longtime girlfriend Aviva Baig. While his personal life has drawn attention, Raihan has quietly carved a distinct identity of his own, away from active politics and firmly rooted in the world of art and photography.
Raihan studied at The Doon School in Dehradun, an institution closely associated with the Gandhi family, where his grandfather Rajiv Gandhi and uncle Rahul Gandhi were also educated. He later pursued higher studies in politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, giving him a global academic exposure.
An artist behind the lens
Despite his political lineage, Raihan has chosen a creative path. A visual artist and photographer, he has been exploring photography since the age of ten. His work spans wildlife, street, and commercial photography, and reflects a keen observational style.
In 2021, Raihan held his first solo exhibition, Dark Perception, at Bikaner House in New Delhi. The exhibition explored themes of light, space, and imagination, inspired by a serious eye injury he suffered during a school cricket match in 2017. The experience deeply influenced his artistic journey, leading him to experiment extensively with black-and-white photography.
Photography runs in the family
Raihan has often spoken about being encouraged by his mother, Priyanka Gandhi, while also drawing inspiration from his grandfather Rajiv Gandhi, who was known for his passion for photography. He continues to study his grandfather’s work as part of his own artistic growth.
