ATS arrests Lucknow-based doctor for alleged role in Red Fort terror module; electronics, documents seized in house raids

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), in coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Police and Lucknow Police, has arrested Dr Parvez Ansari, a 41-year-old Lucknow-based doctor, for his alleged involvement in the Red Fort car blast on November 10. Authorities have now released his photo, bringing him into the public spotlight.
Dr Ansari is the younger brother of Dr Shaheen Shahid, who was arrested in Faridabad earlier for her role in the same terror network. ATS officials say Ansari is suspected of having played a key logistical and communication role in the module behind the blast.
Who is Dr Parvez Ansari?
Dr Ansari completed his MBBS in Lucknow in 2011 and MD in Agra in 2015. He had been working at a private university in Lucknow as a senior resident since July 2021, but abruptly resigned on November 6, just a day before news broke of Dr Adeel Rather’s arrest in Kulgam, the first of several doctor arrests in the terror probe. His father told investigators that Ansari had bought a separate house in Madiyaon a year ago.
House raids and items recovered
ATS and local police raided Ansari’s house in Muttakipur on IIM Road, under Madiaon police station, on the night of November 11 and the morning of November 12. Officials recovered:
Multiple mobile phones and SIM cards
Electronic devices and laptops
Important documents
Knives and other materials suspected to be linked to the terror module
Officials noted that dust-covered furniture and an unused car at his residence suggested he had fled several days before the raid.
Investigation underway
Dr Ansari is currently under interrogation by J&K Police and UP ATS to determine the full extent of his involvement in the Red Fort blast and connections with the broader terror network. Authorities are also probing his communications and movements to identify possible accomplices and links across Lucknow, Faridabad, and Jammu & Kashmir.
The ATS continues to analyze all digital devices and documents recovered from his residence.
