
The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme is set to provide unemployed youth with a wealth of opportunities, with over 90,800 internships now posted on the dedicated portal as of Friday, October 11, 2024. The portal, which will open on Saturday (October 12) at 5 p.m. for applicant registration, has seen a significant increase in opportunities, rising from around 16,000 to nearly 90,849 in just a few days.
The scheme aims to create internships for one crore youth over the next five years, focusing on the top 500 companies. Major firms such as Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motors, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries are among the 193 companies that have posted these opportunities. The internships are spread across 24 sectors, with the largest number in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, followed by travel and hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services.
Since the portal's launch on October 3, 2024, there has been a substantial uptick in engagement, with companies posting opportunities in various fields, including operations management, production and manufacturing, maintenance, and sales and marketing. The geographical reach is impressive, with opportunities available across 737 districts in all 36 states and Union Territories.
The pilot project, estimated to cost around Rs 800 crore, will officially begin on December 2, 2024, and is expected to cover 1.25 lakh candidates by the end of the current financial year in March 2025. Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for 12 months, along with a one-time grant of Rs 6,000.

- Visit the official website.
- Click on the registration link and fill out the required information, including your personal details, before submitting the form.
- Following this, the portal will generate a resume based on the submitted details.
- Choose up to 5 internship opportunities, based on location, sector, functional role, and qualifications.
- Once its done, submit the application and download the confirmation page
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the PM Internship Scheme, candidates must meet several eligibility criteria. Applicants should be young professionals or students typically aged between 18 and 30 years. The scheme is open to individuals from various educational backgrounds, including undergraduate, postgraduate, or diploma holders. Internships are offered across different functional areas, so candidates should align their preferences with their skills and academic qualifications. Additionally, the scheme is exclusively open to Indian nationals.
