Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its third list of candidates for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, naming 19 nominees across the state. The announcement marks a significant step as political parties gear up for the high-stakes electoral battle.

Among the most notable candidates is Madhumita Ghosh, fielded from the Haripal constituency. Ghosh, the mother of the victim in the Kolkata RG Kar Hospital rape case, has drawn public attention, with the BJP framing her nomination as a commitment to justice and women’s safety.

The list also includes a mix of seasoned politicians, professionals, and new entrants, highlighting the party’s strategy to balance local representation with organisational strength. Candidates include doctors such as Dr Arup Kumar Das and Dr Hare Krishna Bera, alongside grassroots leaders from multiple regions.

The BJP has been steadily releasing lists as it intensifies its campaign against the ruling establishment. Party officials indicate that further lists will be announced in the coming days to finalise nominations for remaining constituencies.
