The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging a coordinated attempt to “intimidate” voters in West Bengal through unprecedented deployment of police personnel from outside the state.

In a post on its official X handle, the party claimed that the Commission was acting under “direct instructions” from the BJP and described it as a “calculated scheme to subjugate Bengal”.Check out the post below:

The TMC alleged that police forces from as many as 22 states are being deployed, with officers from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh playing a prominent role.

“A calculated scheme is underway to encircle and intimidate Bengal by deploying police cadres from 22 other states,” the party said.

The party further raised concerns over the appointment of 84 police observers, calling it the highest number assigned to any poll-bound state and alleging it was aimed at “instilling fear among the people”.

“By dispatching an unprecedented 84 police observers, the Commission seeks to instill fear among the people of Bengal,” the TMC said.

Taking direct aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party asserted that such measures would not impact voter sentiment in the state. “Deploying out-of-state police forces will not alter the sovereign will of Bengal's electorate,” the statement added.

Reiterating its political message, the TMC said the people of Bengal are prepared to once again bring back a government based on the principles of “Maa, Mati, and Manush”. The BJP and the Election Commission have not yet responded to these allegations.
