District control rooms and supervisors are being established to enhance monitoring, and a helpline is available for public complaints.

Kolkata: The Election Commission has issued show-cause notices to eight Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in West Bengal for allegedly distributing voter enumeration forms from tea stalls and local clubs instead of going door to door during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Officials said the Commission was dissatisfied with the lapses and directed all District Election Officers and District Magistrates to ensure BLOs personally visit every household to distribute and collect forms, as per norms.
The EC has instructed state authorities to adopt the “Bihar Model,” requiring BLOs to deliver and collect forms directly from voters’ homes. Any officer found derelict in duty will face disciplinary action.
To strengthen monitoring, the Commission has ordered the setting up of district-level control rooms and the appointment of one BLO supervisor for every 10 booths. A special helpline has also been launched for citizens to report complaints regarding BLO conduct or enumeration irregularities.
Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring transparency and better oversight of the voter list revision process across West Bengal.
