Hamirpur (Uttar Pradesh): Four people were killed and three others injured after a truck collided with a vehicle carrying seven passengers in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, officials said on Tuesday.
The accident took place in the Maudaha area when the victims were on their way to attend a wedding in neighbouring Mahoba district.
Superintendent of Police Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said authorities received information about the crash and immediately launched rescue operations.
"We received information that a truck and a vehicle collided. Out of the seven people in the vehicle, four have died, and three are reported injured... The truck has been seized, the truck driver has been taken into custody, and action will be taken in the matter."
Hamirpur District Magistrate Abhishek Goyal said all seven occupants of the vehicle were residents of different villages in Hamirpur district and were travelling for a wedding function.
"In Maudaha, a truck collided with a vehicle with seven people inside, all from various villages of Hamirpur district. All the people were going to attend a wedding in Mahoba. Due to the collision, four people have died, and three are injured, who we have referred to the district hospital... The truck driver has been arrested, and necessary action is being taken."
The injured were shifted to the district hospital for treatment. Police have seized the truck and taken the driver into custody. Further investigation into the accident is underway. ANI
