A Bengaluru entrepreneur’s unusual decision to use his Porsche to repair a pothole has gone viral, sparking a heated debate online. Was it civic activism or a clever marketing stunt?

Bengaluru: A viral video from Bengaluru has sparked widespread discussion online after a local entrepreneur took road repair into his own hands, using a luxury Porsche in a way no one expected.
Frustrated by persistent potholes on city roads, entrepreneur Akhil Hemadri decided to step out of passive complaints and directly address the issue. In the now-viral clip, he arrives at a damaged stretch of road in a bright red Porsche, unloads construction materials, and begins repairing the pothole himself.
What instantly grabbed attention was not just the act of repairing the road, but his unconventional method. Hemadri is seen using the bonnet of his Porsche as a makeshift surface to mix cement before applying it to the damaged patch of road. The striking contrast of a high-end sports car being used for on-ground civil repair quickly turned the video into a social media sensation.
The video gained massive traction across platforms, with users split between admiration and criticism.
Hemadri addressed the intention behind the video, stating, "Every person should take responsibility to keep our surroundings clean and neat. We should not always depend on the government for everything. Our country is highly populated, and change cannot come by government efforts alone. Real change begins when each one of us does our part. This video was made purely to promote my company’s brand and to showcase the strength of PPF for car protection. But beyond business, it also carries a message — if we protect what belongs to us, care for our surroundings, and act responsibly, we can build a cleaner and better nation."
Despite the clarification, the internet remains divided. Many users see the act as a powerful commentary on civic responsibility and urban infrastructure issues, while others view it as a marketing-driven stunt designed for virality. The video has since been widely reshared, even as comments on the original post were turned off.
