Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh: A woman has eloped with her daughter’s fiancé just days before the wedding in Aligarh, leaving her family in shock.

According to the Aligarh Police, the incident happened when the woman named Anita Devi disappeared from her home with jewelry and cash, running away with Rahul, the man scheduled to marry her daughter. The wedding was set to take place on April 16, 2025.

The incident came to light when Anita’s family reported her missing. It was soon revealed that Rahul, a resident of the Dadon police station area, was supposed to marry Anita’s daughter. Investigations indicated that Anita Devi had been secretly planning to run away with him.

Mahesh Kumar, Circle Officer of Iglas, spoke about the case, saying, “A case has been registered regarding the disappearance of Anita Devi. The applicant’s wife took jewelry and money from the house and ran away with Rahul, the man her daughter was supposed to marry. A team has been formed to search for them, and a case has been filed at Madrak police station.”

Family in shock: Husband describes wife’s sudden vanishing act

Anita’s husband, Jitendra Kumar, expressed disbelief over his wife’s sudden disappearance. “I was in regular contact with her until 10:30 am on the day she left. She had been busy preparing for our daughter’s wedding. She told me to visit her sister’s place in the morning, but when I returned, she was gone. We searched for her everywhere but couldn’t find any clues, so we reported her missing to the police,” he said, clearly shaken by the turn of events.

The police are continuing their search efforts, but further details on the investigation are yet to be revealed.
