Mirzapur: In a shocking incident in Semri village, Kachhwa, Mirzapur, a 35-year-old mentally challenged woman, killed her two children before taking her own life on Saturday evening.
In Semri village, Kachhwa, Mirzapur, 35-year-old Sangeeta, who was reportedly mentally challenged, killed her two children – Shivansh (3 years, 8 months) and Shubhankar (14 months) – by stuffing cloth in their mouths and strangling them. She then hanged herself from the roof of her kutcha house using a coir rope. Her husband, Harishchandra, was away at the time and returned upon learning the news. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched an investigation into the incident, including the woman’s mental health history.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Sangeeta returned from her maternal home in Chandauli district. According to Kachhwa Station House Officer Amarjeet Singh, the woman acted alone, and preliminary reports suggest the children were killed before she committed suicide. Circle Officer Amar Bahadur confirmed that police are investigating all circumstances leading up to the tragedy and reviewing the family’s background.
