Biru Singh Bhadauria’s family alleges murder, while police investigate CCTV footage and have reportedly traced the car using its registration number.

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): A 37-year-old man died after he was allegedly assaulted, carried on the roof of a moving car for around 1.5 km with his hands trapped between the vehicle’s windows, and run over after falling onto the road in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. The incident took place on Tuesday night, October 20, as the man was returning home from a Dussehra fair.
The victim, Biru Singh Bhadauria, worked as a salesman for a food products company and lived in the Arra area of Kanpur. He is survived by his wife, Reena Singh, and their three children.
According to his family, Biru had an earlier dispute with two men identified as Rajveer and Mewalal. On Tuesday night, Mewalal allegedly arrived in a car with Rajveer and other men and intercepted Biru while he was returning from the fair.
The group allegedly assaulted him. When Biru tried to escape, the accused hit him with the car before placing him on its roof, with his hands trapped between the front windows. The vehicle was then driven for approximately 1.5 km, according to reports citing the family.

Biru was thrown from the moving car or fell onto the road before the vehicle ran over him. The occupants then fled, the family alleged.
A passerby, Devendra Singh Chauhan, recognised Biru and alerted his family. His relatives first took him to a private hospital. He was later shifted to Hallet Hospital as his condition deteriorated, but doctors declared him dead on Wednesday afternoon.
Family members said Biru sustained multiple injuries, including severe damage to his fingers after his hands were trapped in the car windows.

CCTV footage under investigation
CCTV footage shows a man lying on the roof of a moving car. Biru’s family has claimed that multiple cameras in the area captured the incident and has called for the footage to be examined.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Kumar Rahul said police had received a complaint from Biru’s elder brother, Kuldeep Singh Bhadauria, alleging that he had been hit by a car. The officer said the matter was under investigation.
Police were also reported to have traced the vehicle using its registration number and examined the accused’s mobile phone location as part of the probe.

Family alleges murder, demands action
Biru’s wife has rejected the possibility that his death was the result of an accident, alleging that her husband was murdered by people known to him. The family has demanded strict action against those responsible.
The family also protested on Wednesday, alleging that police had not initially acted on their complaint. A senior police officer said the complaint initially described the incident as a road accident before the family raised allegations of murder.
Police said the investigation was continuing and that further action would follow based on the findings.
