New Delhi: The University of Delhi (DU) has made significant strides in the QS World University Rankings 2026, retaining its global rank of 328 while improving its standing in various key indicators. Notably, DU has jumped 14 spots to secure the 30th rank worldwide in the Employment Outcomes category, the highest among Indian institutions.

DU's overall score has improved from 33.8 to 42.6, reflecting its rising academic excellence and expanding global reputation. The university has also seen significant improvements in research network and citations per faculty, with rankings improving from 406 to 294 and 488 to 403, respectively. These advancements highlight DU's growing global academic footprint and research impact, with a 13% year-on-year increase in publications and a 24% rise in total citations.

Among Indian institutions, DU ranks 7th overall and remains the top public university in the country. It also holds the 2nd position in the International Research Network and 6th in both Academic Reputation and Sustainability indicators. Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh emphasized that these achievements reflect the university's sustained commitment to global engagement, high-impact research, and enhanced graduate outcomes.

The QS Rankings 2026 evaluated 8,467 institutions globally, with India featuring 54 universities, making it the fourth most represented country. Other central universities, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), have also improved their positions in the rankings. JNU moved up to a global rank of 558, while JMI entered the 761-770 bracket. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University improved to the 951-1000 bracket.
