Chennai: At the State Executive Committee meeting of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) held at the party headquarters in Chennai, party leader Vijay made it unequivocally clear that TVK would not enter into any alliance—direct or indirect—with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Declaring the BJP an “ideological enemy,” Vijay stated, “BJP divides people based on religion and encourages division among people to enjoy political gain. Their such poisonous attempts could work anywhere but never in Tamil Nadu.”

Vijay’s remarks were aimed at reaffirming TVK’s commitment to Tamil Nadu’s secular and inclusive ethos. He echoed the sentiments of the state’s Dravidian legacy, which has consistently resisted Hindutva politics and communal polarisation.

“Like DMK and ADMK, TVK would never ever form a direct or indirect alliance with BJP for personal benefits,” Vijay said, reinforcing the party's distance from any political grouping seen as undermining the legacy of iconic Tamil leaders.

The actor-politician took sharp aim at the BJP’s past rhetoric, particularly the party’s derogatory remarks about rationalist leader Periyar and former chief minister C. N. Annadurai (Anna). “BJP can’t win in a secular state like Tamil Nadu by insulting respected leaders like Periyar, Anna and others,” he added.

The statement was later shared on social media through TVK’s official handle, @TVKVijayHQ, and quickly gained traction online.

By drawing a red line on potential alliances and openly criticising the BJP’s ideological stance, Vijay has not only cemented his party’s position in Tamil Nadu’s secular political spectrum but also issued a clear warning to national parties seeking inroads through divisive politics.
