Hyderabad: In a small village in Telangana, India, Donald Trump’s anticipated second term as US President has sparked fresh celebrations around an unusual temple. Built by the late Bussa Krishna in 2019, this shrine dedicated to Trump has become the center of attention once more, as villagers gather to honor the leader in the hope of his return to office.
Temple for Trump
Bussa Krishna, a farmer from Konne village in Jangaon district, was so inspired by Trump that he turned part of his home into a temple in 2018. Initially, he installed a photo of Trump in his puja room and began to worship it daily. Krishna’s admiration for the US President grew so much that, in 2019, he spent around Rs 2 lakh to erect a six-foot statue of Trump outside his house, performing regular rituals and even bathing the statue with milk. His devotion earned him the nickname "Trump Krishna" among the villagers.
Krishna’s dedication to Trump began after an early morning dream in which he saw the US President. Soon after, he started to believe Trump had a special power. In 2019, Krishna predicted India’s victory against Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup after his “vision” of Trump in his dream. When India won, Krishna’s belief grew stronger.
His admiration took a new turn when a techie from Telangana, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, was tragically killed in a hate crime in the US in 2017. Krishna hoped that by worshipping Trump, he could convey the greatness of India and its people to Americans. He believed his devotion could build a bridge between the two countries.
Krishna’s devotion to Trump wasn’t just limited to his temple. In 2020, when Trump contracted COVID-19, Krishna posted a video where he was seen in tears, praying for Trump’s recovery. He also wished for Trump’s re-election in 2020.
Sadly, Bussa Krishna passed away in October 2020 at the age of 33, suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. However, his memory lives on, as family and villagers continue to care for the Trump statue in his honor.
Villagers pay homage
As Trump’s re-election bid gathers momentum, villagers gathered around Krishna’s Trump statue, garlanding it and cleaning the area to celebrate what they believe will be his second term. The unique shrine has become a symbol of Krishna’s admiration and his lasting influence on his village.
