Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) abruptly cancelled the Group-2 and Group-2A main examinations scheduled for Sunday, citing lapses in the allocation of examination centres.

The decision came as a shock to thousands of aspirants, many of whom had travelled long distances and invested months or even years of preparation for these highly competitive government recruitment tests.

TVK president Vijay strongly criticised the DMK government, accusing it of betraying the hopes of young people across the state. He highlighted the emotional and mental toll on candidates, stressing that cancelling the exams at the last moment not only wasted their efforts but also undermined their confidence. Vijay also questioned whether deeper administrative failures were at play, pointing to previous irregularities in municipal and other government recruitment examinations.

Candidates expressed frustration over the uncertainty caused by the sudden cancellation, noting that rescheduled dates would force them to redo extensive preparation. Aspirants have called for transparency and accountability from the authorities to ensure that such disruptions do not recur. TNPSC has indicated that revised exam dates will be announced soon, as candidates await clarity on their next opportunity.
