Kolkata: The All India Trinamool Congress launched a blistering social media offensive against Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday, labelling the West Bengal Leader of Opposition a "venomous snake" and a "rare breed of poison" in the state's political landscape. In a comprehensive post on X, the ruling party accused Adhikari of betraying his former political home to escape federal corruption probes and systematically attempting to "surgically fracture the spirit" of Bengal's democracy.

The TMC detailed a "glorious record" of the opposition leader that catalogues a series of inflammatory incidents and policy stances over the past five years. The party claims Adhikari joined the BJP on Dec. 19, 2020, specifically to "cover up his involvement in the Saradha and Narada scams" and evade investigations by the CBI and ED. This was followed by a high-profile incident on Feb. 21, 2024, where he allegedly questioned the patriotic integrity of Sikh citizens by referring to a Sikh police officer as a “Khalistani.”

Escalating their accusations into more recent events, the post alleges that on March 11, 2025, Adhikari openly stated that Muslim MLAs would be "thrown out of the Assembly" if the BJP secured power in the state. Later that year, on July 31, the TMC alleged that Adhikari threatened to "skin an ordinary citizen alive" for chanting the "Joy Bangla" slogan while baselessly labelling the individual a Rohingya. The party further noted that on Dec. 13, 2025, he reportedly felicitated individuals who had physically assaulted a vendor on religious grounds.

The rhetoric has reportedly continued into 2026, with the TMC claiming that on Feb. 1, Adhikari told constituents he would only work for those willing to "change their religion" and support the segregation of Hindus and Muslims. Most recently, on Feb. 17, he was accused of brazenly insulting police officials in Moyna by making "casteist remarks."

In its political escalation, the Trinamool Congress alleged that Adhikari is a "crude communal hack job of a hatemonger" whose rhetoric equates Bengali pride with being a Rohingya. The party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of backing these actions to "conquer" the land while refusing to censure their "poster boys of national DISintegration." The statement concluded with an appeal to the "Maa-Mati-Manush" to deliver an "effective antidote" to this rhetoric at the upcoming polls.
