A three-year-old daughter of migrant labourers was brutally mauled to death by stray dogs in Telangana’s Peddapalli after being dragged into a field, sparking outrage over the growing menace.

In a gruesome and deeply disturbing incident, a three-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Telangana’s Peddapalli district on Monday, triggering outrage and renewed concerns over the unchecked stray dog menace in rural areas.
The victim, identified as Divya Behra, was the daughter of a migrant labourer couple from Odisha, employed at a brick kiln in Katnapalli village under Sultanabad mandal.
According to local sources, the toddler was playing outside their modest rented accommodation when a pack of stray dogs suddenly pounced on her.
In a chilling sequence of events, the dogs allegedly grabbed the child by her neck and dragged her away from the house into a nearby agricultural field.
By the time residents rushed to the spot after hearing cries and managed to chase the animals away, the child had already suffered fatal injuries.
Locals who reached the scene described it as horrific, with the child succumbing to multiple grievous wounds inflicted during the attack. She died on the spot, leaving the family and the entire village in shock.
The incident has once again brought into sharp focus the growing threat posed by stray dogs in several parts of Sultanabad mandal.
Residents alleged that repeated complaints about aggressive stray dog packs have gone unaddressed by local authorities.
Anger is also mounting over the poor living conditions of migrant labourers working in brick kilns across the district, where basic safety measures remain absent.
Villagers have demanded urgent intervention, calling for immediate steps to control the stray dog population and ensure the safety of children in vulnerable communities.
