Shocking Telangana hostel incident: Watchman found drunk, sleeping with leg in student rice pot! See viral video & action taken for safety.

In a shocking incident from Telangana’s Sangareddy district, authorities have removed a hostel watchman from duty after he was found drunk and asleep inside the kitchen, with one leg placed inside a vessel containing cooked rice meant for students.
The incident occurred on November 12 at the Govt Polytechnic College SC/ST Boys’ Hostel in Ishmailkhanpet. A video recorded by students quickly went viral, prompting swift action from district officials.
After the matter came to light, the Sangareddy District Collector sought a detailed report and directed the Additional Collector (Local Bodies), Chandrasekhar, to take prompt action.
According to the report submitted by Polytechnic Principal P. Janaki Devi, the watchman, identified as Shekhar, was intoxicated on the night of November 12 and was found sleeping in the hostel kitchen with his foot inside a vessel filled with cooked rice. The incident raised serious concerns over hygiene and student safety.
Following the submission of the report, the Additional Collector confirmed that Shekhar was removed from duty as per the Collector’s instructions.
The district administration has issued instructions to strengthen hostel supervision and food safety:
A teacher will now be assigned for daily hostel monitoring.
The principal has been warned to ensure proper hygiene and high-quality meals for hostel students.
Officials have been asked to maintain strict surveillance across all hostels to prevent similar lapses in the future.
The viral video has sparked widespread outrage among parents and students, prompting calls for stronger oversight of hostel facilities across Telangana.
