High-stakes, multi-cornered contest is underway between DMK, AIADMK and the TVK.

Tamil Nadu, long regarded as the citadel of Dravidian politics for over five decades and traditionally dominated by the DMK and AIADMK, appears to be witnessing a political shift.
Actor-politician Vijay, making his electoral debut with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is on course to emerge as the single-largest party.
The DMK, led by MK Stalin, is trailing, with the Chief Minister also losing his stronghold of Kolathur to TVK.
While most exit polls had projected a second consecutive win for the DMK, Axis My India had indicated a possible “Vijay effect,” suggesting TVK could emerge as a kingmaker with around 100 seats in the 234-member Assembly, where the majority mark is 118.
As per Election Commission data at 6.15 p.m. on Monday, TVK has won 9 seats and is leading in 94 constituencies.
