The West Bengal government’s portal for the Banglar Yubasathi scheme under Swanirvar Bangla went live at 12 midnight on Sunday, marking the official start of online applications aimed at reducing crowding and pressure on physical camps across the state.

After more than 5.5 lakh applicants submitted forms offline on the first day of physical registration, authorities at Nabanna moved swiftly to shift the entire process online to streamline submissions and minimize congestion.

Applicants can log in to the official portal at https://apas.wb.gov.in and select Banglar Yubasathi from the left navigation after clicking on the Swanirvar Bangla option. Choosing “Click to Apply” will open the online application interface.

To begin, users must enter their mobile number and verify it via OTP. Once verified, candidates can upload the required documents, which include:

  • Secondary school admit card
  • Mark sheet
  • Aadhaar card
  • Voter ID
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • A clear photo of a signed name card

After document upload and OTP confirmation, applicants can submit the form. A downloadable copy of the submitted application is provided upon successful submission; the government recommends saving this for future reference.

The administration has advised applicants to read the portal instructions carefully and to contact the designated helpdesk should they encounter any technical issues.

The Banglar Yubasathi scheme, announced in the interim state budget on February 5 by Finance Minister of State Chandrima Bhattacharya, was initially slated to launch on August 15 last year.

However, the Chief Minister later declared in a February 10 press briefing that the programme would be effective from April 1, with applications accepted from the current week through February 26.

Targeted at school-passed youth aged 21 to 40, the scheme promises ₹1,500 monthly financial assistance until employment is secured or for a maximum of five years.

According to Nabanna data, out of the 6,29,000 visitors to the 769 offline camps held across the state on the first day of registration, approximately 5,66,000 were prospective Yubasathis.

Other applicants included around 31,000 for Lakshmi Bhandar benefits and about 36,000 combined for agricultural labour and Khaojkhabar schemes.
