Hospital sources described the admission as a preemptive measure, common for Gandhi due to her chronic cough, often exacerbated by Delhi's pollution.

New Delhi: Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Monday evening for a routine medical evaluation, hospital sources confirmed Tuesday.
The 79-year-old senior leader is reported to be in stable condition and is currently under the supervision of a chest specialist. Officials described the admission as a preemptive measure related to a recurring respiratory issue.
"It is a routine admission, but she has this problem of chronic cough, and she keeps coming for check-ups, especially with this pollution in the city," a hospital source told PTI.
Gandhi, who serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, has frequently sought medical attention at the facility for similar ailments, which are often aggravated by the high pollution levels in the national capital. Hospital officials emphasised that she is "doing fine" and remains under observation for standard assessments.
The veteran politician celebrated her 79th birthday last month. No official bulletin has been released regarding her expected date of discharge.
