New Delhi: Following her admission to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late Tuesday night, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi is reported to be in stable condition. Hospital authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the veteran leader is currently undergoing a series of diagnostic tests to address specific health concerns.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital chairman Dr Ajay Swaroop noted that Gandhi was admitted at approximately 10.22 pm. Medical teams are presently investigating potential stomach and urinary tract infections while monitoring her response to treatment.

"Sonia Gandhi (Congress Parliamentary Party leader) was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday at 10.22 pm. She is stable. Doctors are conducting further investigations to check for possible infection in the stomach and urinary tract. A team of doctors is closely monitoring her condition, and antibiotics have been administered," Dr Swaroop said.

The hospitalisation follows reports of respiratory discomfort. A detailed medical examination revealed that Gandhi’s bronchial asthma had been mildly exacerbated, a condition doctors attribute to the combined impact of Delhi’s current cold wave and rising pollution levels. As a precautionary measure, the medical team decided to keep her under close observation for further management.

This visit follows a similar hospitalisation last June for gastrointestinal issues. Earlier that same month, she had also undergone a routine health check-up at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla, where her condition was similarly described as stable.
