Bengaluru: Ricky Rai, son of the late underworld figure N Muthappa Rai, was reportedly shot at by unidentified assailants near his residence in Bidadi during the early hours of Saturday, according to police.

The incident took place between 1:00 and 1:30am as Rai was travelling from Bidadi to Bengaluru in his car. He was seated in the rear of the vehicle alongside his personal security guard when shots were allegedly fired at the car.

Police reports indicate that a bullet pierced through the driver’s seat, injuring both the driver and Rai. The motive and identity of the attackers remain unknown.

Rai is currently receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. His condition has not yet been officially disclosed.

A case has been registered, and police say efforts are underway to trace and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
