Two arrested in Baddi after video shows dhaba worker spitting on rotis, sparking outrage and protests by Hindu groups.

Baddi: Two people have been arrested in Himachal Pradesh’s Baddi town after a disturbing video went viral on social media showing a dhaba employee allegedly spitting on rotis while cooking. The footage, which emerged on Friday morning, triggered widespread outrage among locals and religious groups.
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the Baddi police arrested Mohammad Mustaj, the owner of the Sai Road-based dhaba, and Mohammad Nizam, the employee seen in the viral clip. Both have been booked under Sections 271 and 272 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The incident occurred at a roadside eatery in the Sai Road area of Solan district. A customer who witnessed the act recorded the video and shared it online. The video shows the worker allegedly spitting on the rotis during their preparation.
Rajesh Jindal, convenor of the Shri Ram Sena, lodged an official complaint with local authorities after the video surfaced.
Local protests and demand for closure
The incident has ignited protests from local Hindu organisations, including the Shri Ram Sena, Bajrang Dal, and Bhartiya Gau Raksha Dal. Representatives of these groups gathered outside the dhaba, demanding that it be shut down until the investigation concludes.
Similar incident reported in Uttar Pradesh
In a separate incident, a man in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district was arrested for a similar offence after a video showed him spitting on rotis during preparation. Acting on instructions from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jani Police arrested the accused, identified as Shoaib, a resident of Kurali village.
According to a police spokesperson, a case was filed at the Jani police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
