New Delhi: A severed hand was found on the rooftop of a shop near the Red Fort blast site on Thursday morning, police said.

According to officials, the hand was found just a few metres from the explosion site, located behind the Jain Temple.

Police said that after receiving information about the discovery, personnel immediately reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and collected the severed hand.

The remains have been sent for forensic examination to help ascertain the victim’s identity, police added.

Twelve people were killed and several others injured after an explosives-laden car detonated near the Red Fort in the national capital on November 10.

Loud sound near Delhi’s Mahipalpur turns out to be tyre burst, say officials

Panic spread in Delhi’s Mahipalpur area near the Radisson Hotel on Thursday morning after a loud explosion-like sound was heard, but officials later confirmed that it was caused by a tyre burst and not an explosion.

According to officials, the fire department received a call about the incident at around 9:18 am.

"A call of blast near Radisson, Mahipalpur was received, and staff were rushed to the spot. The caller was contacted and it was informed that while the caller was on the way to Gurugram, a loud noise was heard," police said.

Following the alert, fire brigade and police teams immediately reached the scene to determine the cause of the sound.

However, the Delhi Police later confirmed that the loud noise was indeed the result of a tyre burst and not an explosion.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, “a call regarding a suspected explosion near the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur was received at 9:18 am. A team was promptly rushed to the spot to assess the situation.”
