Chandigarh: A man was critically injured after two unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at a chemist shop in Sector 11 on Saturday, police said. The victim has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
According to police, the attackers, both wearing caps and masks, fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
CCTV footage from the shop reportedly shows the two men standing near the cash counter before one of them pulls out a pistol and fires at close range at the man present there.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The incident took place in the busy Sector 11 market area, which houses several chemist shops and sees significant daily footfall. The location is also situated near the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), adding to concerns over security in the area.
