Ghaziabad schools and colleges are shut from August 4 to 12 due to the Kanwar Yatra, while Delhi has not announced any closure today.

New Delhi: If you are wondering whether there is a school holiday today (August 4), the answer depends on where you live.
While schools and colleges have been shut in Ghaziabad due to the annual Kanwar Yatra, there is no blanket holiday in Delhi.
The Ghaziabad administration has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, universities and technical institutions from August 4 to August 12 to ensure student safety and ease traffic congestion during the Kanwar Yatra.
The order applies to institutions affiliated with the Basic Education Board, Secondary Education Board, CBSE, ICSE, Madrasa Board and other recognised boards.
However, pre-scheduled examinations will continue as planned, according to the district administration.
In Delhi, no official order has been issued to suspend classes because of the Kanwar Yatra or rainfall.
Students and parents have been advised to stay in touch with their respective schools for any local updates, as individual institutions may take decisions based on prevailing conditions.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory, asking commuters to plan their travel as the movement of Kanwar pilgrims is expected to cause congestion on several routes across the national capital.
Schools across the country will also observe upcoming holidays in August, including Independence Day on August 15, while holidays for festivals such as Jhulan Purnima, Milad-un-Nabi and Raksha Bandhan will vary depending on the state and local government notifications.
