This incident follows a fatal January 2026 charter plane crash near the same airstrip, which tragically claimed the lives of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others.

Pune: A trainer aircraft operated by a private firm crashed near the Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra's Pune district on Sunday, police confirmed.
No casualties were reported in connection with the incident, according to authorities.
Police stated that the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 pm.
"The incident took place near the airstrip. We are investigating whether the aircraft developed a technical snag or if there were any other technical problems. It is too early to comment on anything," a senior police official said.
The incident comes in the wake of the fatal crash on 28 January 2026, when a Learjet 45 charter plane operated by VSR Ventures crashed near the same airstrip, resulting in the deaths of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others on board.
