New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday intensified his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing the Centre of attempting to silence young people by filing FIRs and taking down their social media accounts.
In a post on X, Gandhi wrote: "PM Modi and Amit Shah - you cannot threaten Gen Z into silence."

He further alleged, "First you broke their bones. Now you are filing FIRs and taking down their accounts."
Addressing the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Gandhi added: "You are India's past. Be careful about how you treat India's future."
His remarks come amid an ongoing political row over the alleged police action against student protesters during a demonstration held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on July 20.
On Thursday, Gandhi demanded that an independent, Supreme Court-monitored high-powered committee be constituted to investigate the alleged use of force against the students.
"Students deserve justice. An independent SC monitored high powered committee must be constituted to probe brutalities against our students," he said in another post on X.
Gandhi also shared a video that he claimed showed police personnel lathi-charging demonstrators. The footage also appeared to show a man in civilian clothes forcefully throwing a student protester carrying the Indian flag onto the road during the police action.
The demand for an independent inquiry came as Opposition MPs from several INDIA bloc parties staged a protest at Makar Dwar in the Parliament complex on Thursday over the alleged police action against the students and the alleged embezzlement of donations made to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
The MPs gathered at around 10.30 am, carrying placards questioning who had ordered the alleged police action at Jantar Mantar. They also raised slogans demanding accountability from the Centre over both the alleged use of force against students and the alleged financial irregularities in temple donations.
The protest was held hours before the Rajya Sabha was scheduled to take up the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing.
