New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi Links Unemployment Crisis to ‘Vote Theft’ in Fresh Salvo at Modi Govt

Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has once again intensified his criticism of the Modi government, this time asserting that the country’s youth are being “pushed to darkness” by an unprecedented surge in unemployment—allegedly tied to systematic vote fraud. In a strongly worded post on X, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of “failing” the youth and claimed that electoral malpractice (“vote chori”) is at the root of the job crisis.

Unemployment, vote fraud, and official neglect

Rahul Gandhi argued that the fundamental responsibility of any government that comes to power after earning public trust is to generate employment and opportunities for the younger generation. Accusing the BJP of capturing institutions and manipulating elections, he alleged that “unemployment has reached its highest level in 45 years,” with recruitment processes in disarray and declining job opportunities pushing millions of young Indians into uncertainty.

He went on to say the government prioritises billionaires and businessmen over the aspirations of the youth. Sharing a split-screen video on X, Gandhi underscored the contrast between footage of police using a lathi charge on protesting students and visuals of Prime Minister Modi engaged in leisure activities, such as feeding peacocks. “Now the youth will neither tolerate the looting of jobs nor the theft of votes,” Rahul Gandhi said, calling for an end to both employment deprivation and electoral fraud.

Lathi charges and failing recruitment

Further stoking the debate, Gandhi circulated videos and images depicting police action against students protesting for fair recruitment. The Congress leader has repeatedly highlighted issues like exam paper leaks, cancelled appointments, and arbitrary delays in recruitment, which he links to both corruption and poor governance. “Every exam paper leak, every failed recruitment, there’s a story of corruption behind it,” he wrote. The use of force on peaceful protestors, he declared, was evidence of a “cowardly government” prioritising self-preservation over justice for the youth.

Bihar elections and the ‘Vote Chori’ campaign

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come as the Congress intensifies its campaign on vote tampering ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. He recently hosted his second press conference on ‘vote theft’ and warned of impending major revelations under what he called the “hydrogen bomb threat” to the current electoral system. The opposition party aims to mobilise unemployed youth by drawing a direct link between joblessness and alleged electoral manipulation.

“As long as elections continue to be stolen, unemployment and corruption will also keep increasing,” Gandhi wrote, seeking to evoke public outrage and support for the opposition’s movement. “Freeing India from unemployment and vote theft is now the greatest patriotism.” He concluded by calling on the youth to recognise the real challenge before them and to fight for democratic rights and economic justice.
