Pune : In a significant initiative aimed at easing the transition of military personnel into civilian careers, the Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), successfully organised a Job Fair at Air Force Station, Pune.
The event, held on Friday, saw participation from over 2,500 Ex-Servicemen from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, who registered in pursuit of second career opportunities. More than 50 esteemed companies from various sectors engaged in the fair, offering over 1,000 vacancies in diverse roles.
The fair provided a vital link between highly skilled veterans and the corporate world, where their expertise in leadership, technical operations, and strategic planning could be effectively utilised. The shortlisted candidates will now proceed through screening and interview processes, potentially securing roles as Senior Supervisors, Mid and Senior-level Managers, Strategic Planners, and Project Directors.
Employers, in turn, benefitted from access to a disciplined, goal-oriented workforce known for its problem-solving abilities, resilience, and teamwork—qualities honed during years of dedicated military service. Beyond traditional employment, the event also spotlighted entrepreneurship as an alternative career path for veterans. Several companies presented innovative business models, encouraging Ex-Servicemen to consider self-employment and enterprise development. Given their extensive experience in logistics, operations, and crisis management, many veterans possess the skills necessary to establish and manage successful businesses.
