President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors and Lieutenant Governors for nine states and Union Territories as part of a major administrative reshuffle.

The appointments were announced on March 5 and include key administrative changes in several states and Union Territories, including Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

According to official notifications, the appointments will come into effect once the respective appointees formally assume charge of their offices.

  • R N Ravi appointed governor of West Bengal

R. N. Ravi has been appointed the new Governor of West Bengal. He succeeds C. V. Ananda Bose, who resigned from the post on Thursday.

  • Delhi and Ladakh see leadership changes

Vinai Kumar Saxena has been transferred from his position as Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and will now serve as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

Former Indian diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

  2. Ladakh (UT) – Vinai Kumar Saxena transferred as Lieutenant Governor from Delhi.
  3. Delhi (UT) – Former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu appointed as Lieutenant Governor.
  4. Telangana – Shiv Pratap Shukla appointed as Governor.
  5. Maharashtra – Jishnu Dev Varma appointed as Governor.
  6. Nagaland – Nand Kishore Yadav appointed as Governor.
  7. Bihar – Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain appointed as Governor.
  8. Himachal Pradesh – Kavinder Gupta appointed as Governor.
  9. Tamil Nadu – Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar appointed as Governor.

Changes in Telangana and Maharashtra

Shiv Pratap Shukla, who previously served as Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed Governor of Telangana.

Meanwhile, Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Governor of Telangana, has been appointed the new Governor of Maharashtra.

New governors for Nagaland, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu

Senior leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed Governor of Nagaland.

Retired Army officer Syed Ata Hasnain will serve as the new Governor of Bihar.

Kavinder Gupta, the outgoing Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

Former Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been appointed the new Governor of Tamil Nadu. The reshuffle is seen as part of a broader administrative restructuring across key states and Union Territories.
