Narendra Modi on Thursday marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, praising the courage and precision of the Indian armed forces and calling the operation a strong message against terrorism.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s strong response to terrorism and reflected the preparedness and coordination of the country’s security forces.
“A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during Operation Sindoor,” Modi wrote in a post on X.

“They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour,” he added.
The Prime Minister also said India remains committed to combating terrorism and dismantling networks supporting such activities.
Social media display pictures changed to mark anniversary
To mark the occasion, Modi changed the display pictures across his social media accounts to an Operation Sindoor-themed image featuring the Indian tricolour and the operation’s name.
He also encouraged people to adopt the same image on their social media profiles as a gesture of support for the armed forces.
Several Union ministers and BJP leaders also updated their profile pictures as part of the campaign.
What was Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor was launched between May 7 and May 10, 2025 following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025.
The attack killed 26 people, including tourists and a local guide.
Following the incident, Indian forces carried out strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan.
The operation involved the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and the Border Security Force.
Modi said the operation showcased the professionalism and growing coordination among India’s armed forces.
He also linked the operation to India’s push for self-reliance in the defence sector.
“It showcased the growing jointness among India’s security forces and underlined the strength that India’s quest for self-reliance in the defence sector has brought to national security,” he said.
Earlier this week, Rajnath Singh described Operation Sindoor as “a golden chapter in India’s military history”.
