Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘Operation Sindoor’ is back in the spotlight after a report named Kartik Aaryan as its potential leading man. Announced earlier this year by Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar, the project is yet to confirm its lead actor officially.

According to a report by Variety India, Kartik is set to play the male lead in the film. However, neither the actor nor the makers have officially confirmed his involvement, leaving the casting unannounced for now.

The film takes its name from the Indian military campaign launched following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. If Kartik’s casting is confirmed, ‘Operation Sindoor’ will mark another military-themed project in the actor’s upcoming line-up.

Before moving on to ‘Operation Sindoor’, Kartik is expected to complete work on ‘Captain India’, which is being directed by Shimit Amin. The film draws from Operation Raahat, India’s 2015 mission to evacuate citizens from conflict-hit Yemen.

The project places Kartik in a story inspired by a real-life evacuation effort, adding to the range of roles he has taken on beyond romantic comedies and mainstream entertainers.

‘Naagzilla’ and Anurag Basu’s film also in the pipeline

His upcoming film ‘Naagzilla’ is slated to arrive in February 2027, while his next collaboration with filmmaker Anurag Basu is expected to reach cinemas in April 2027.

Captain India, meanwhile, is scheduled for an Independence Day weekend release in 2027. The timeline for ‘Operation Sindoor’ has not yet been announced.

Kartik Aaryan’s National Award win

The actor recently added a National Award to his list of achievements for his performance in ‘Chandu Champion’, which was released in 2024. Directed by Kabir Khan, the sports biographical drama saw Kartik portray Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist.
