New Delhi: In the 125th episode of the "Mann Ki Baat" radio programme on August 31, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the recent natural disasters across India caused by incessant rains, including floods and landslides. He reported significant damage to infrastructure such as roads and bridges, and the displacement of populations. The Prime Minister acknowledged the work of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), armed forces, and local authorities in conducting rescue and relief operations using technology, including thermal cameras, drones, and helicopters.

Modi also highlighted two notable developments in Jammu and Kashmir amid these circumstances. Pulwama district hosted its first-ever day-night cricket match as part of the Royal Premier League. The tournament features 12 teams from across Jammu and Kashmir, with the inaugural match held between Royal Goodwill and Sultan Springs Baramulla. The event drew a large crowd, marking a significant milestone for local cricket in the region.

"Not many people noticed these. But you will be happy to know about those achievements. A record number of people gathered in a stadium in Pulwama. Pulwama's first day-night cricket match was played here. Earlier this was impossible, but now my country is changing," he said.

Additionally, the Khelo India Water Sports Festival was held for the first time at Dal Lake in Srinagar. The festival engaged over 800 athletes from various states and union territories, with nearly equal participation from men and women. The event included water sports activities like rowing, kayaking, canoeing, and traditional shikara races, aiming to promote sports development in the region.
