New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai following the attack on him earlier on Monday inside the Supreme Court premises. Expressing his strong condemnation of the incident, the Prime Minister said that the attack had angered every Indian and that there was no place for such reprehensible acts in society.

In his message, PM Modi appreciated the calm and composure shown by Justice Gavai in the face of such a disturbing situation. He noted that the Chief Justice’s response highlighted his unwavering commitment to the values of justice and the strengthening of the spirit of the Indian Constitution.

The Prime Minister emphasised that such acts were utterly condemnable and reiterated the need for unity in standing with Justice Gavai and upholding the dignity of the judiciary. His comments came amid widespread national outrage after a lawyer attempted to hurl a shoe at CJI Gavai during court proceedings, an attack that was swiftly prevented by security personnel.
