Farmers who acquired land after Feb 1, 2019, are ineligible for PM-Kisan Yojana benefits for 5 years — here’s what they must know about the 21st instalment.

As lakhs of Indian farmers await the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan Yojana) scheme, many are hoping the government will release the funds ahead of Diwali as a festive gesture. Although there’s no official date announced yet, speculation is strong that the instalment may be credited soon.
However, not all farmers will be eligible for this round of disbursement.
Farmers acquiring land after February 1, 2019, not eligible for 5 years
A crucial eligibility criterion states that farmers who acquired cultivable land ownership after February 1, 2019, will not be eligible for the PM-Kisan Yojana benefit for the first five years. This exclusion is part of the scheme’s guidelines and is enforced strictly.
According to information available on the official PM-Kisan Yojana website, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has flagged certain cases for exclusion under the scheme.
These include:
- Individuals who became landowners after 01-02-2019
- Cases where multiple members of the same family are receiving benefits — such as both spouses or a parent and a minor child
In such instances, the benefits are withheld temporarily pending physical verification.
