Patna: A case has been registered against Bihar MP Pappu Yadav for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct after he was seen distributing money among flood-affected residents in Vaishali district, officials said on Friday.
The Independent MP from Purnea was booked at the Sahdei police station on Thursday night following a complaint by the district administration, they said.
“The case was registered on the basis of CCTV footage and a statement given by an official engaged in poll duty,” said Superintendent of Police Lalit Mohan Sharma, adding that an investigation is underway.
Polling for the Bihar Assembly elections will take place on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
