PIB clarifies a deepfake video of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh circulating on social media, falsely claiming Indian military losses and alleging political pressure. The video is Pakistani propaganda.

New Delhi: A deepfake video featuring Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh has gone viral on social media, falsely claiming that India suffered heavy losses during Operation Sindoor, including the loss of four Rafale jets and three other fighter aircraft, while also alleging the disappearance of Lieutenant Shivangi Singh. The video further suggests that the Air Chief remained silent under political pressure from the BJP government.
However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has on Saturday issued a firm clarification, stating that the video is digitally manipulated and being circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts to mislead the public and create confusion.
Statement made by PIB's Fact Check unit read, "A deepfake video of Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh is being circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts...He has NOT given any such statement. These AI-manipulated videos are being spread to create panic and mislead people.”
What did the fake video claim?
The AI-generated video appears to show Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh making several alarming claims like- India lost multiple fighter jets, including Rafales, during Operation Sindoor. Lieutenant Shivangi Singh, India’s first woman Rafale pilot, is missing and that he was pressured into silence by the central government.
