New York: A family of Indian origin who had gone missing in the United States has been found dead in a car crash. Dr Kishore Divan, Asha Divan, Shailesh Divan, and Gita Divan were found dead following the accident, according to Marshal County Sheriff Mike Dougherty.

The family of four had been travelling from New York to West Virginia to visit a temple when the vehicle they were in met with an accident in Marshall County. Their bodies were reportedly found at around 9:30 pm local time on Saturday, steep embankment along Big Wheeling Creek Road.

A missing persons report had earlier been filed with the police in Buffalo, New York, after the family could not be contacted. During the investigation, CCTV footage surfaced showing the group at a Burger King outlet in Pennsylvania — it was also the last location where one of their credit cards had been used.

The family had been en route to the Bhupad Palace of Gold, an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in West Virginia, but they never arrived at their destination. Concerned relatives alerted the authorities, prompting a search that eventually led to the discovery of the bodies.
