According to the Election Commission of India, in Tamil Nadu the TVK is still the single largest party with leads in 109 seats. Followed by AIADMK with 57 seats and DMK with leads in 49 seats.

Visuals from outside the TVK office showed a sea of supporters dancing and chanting slogans as the party maintained its lead during the counting of votes. Vijay is leading in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency at the end of the first round of counting by a margin of 6499 votes.

Smaller parties, including the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Indian National Congress (INC), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), were leading in 4, 5, and 3 seats, respectively.

With trends showing the Bharatiya Janata Party nearing the 200-seat mark in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee urged voters to be cautious of “fake news.” She also alleged that the All India Trinamool Congress is ahead in nearly 100 seats that are not being reflected in official trend data.

The BJP appears set for a breakthrough in West Bengal, surging towards a commanding majority and posing a serious challenge to the TMC’s decade-long dominance. Early trends point to a decisive shift in the state’s political landscape, with the saffron party inching closer to a historic mandate. As of 1.30 pm, the BJP is leading in around 191 seats, while the TMC is ahead in approximately 97. In Panihati, BJP candidate Ratna Debnath, mother of the victim in the RG Kar rape and murder case, is leading by 2,763 votes after the first round.

In the latest update from the Bhabanipur constituency, Mamata Banerjee has maintained a strong lead after eight rounds of counting. She has secured 35,522 votes so far, staying comfortably ahead of her closest rival, Suvendu Adhikari. The margin between the two currently stands at 15,494 votes, placing Banerjee in a dominant position midway through the counting process.

With 12 rounds remaining, the contest is not officially over, but the gap suggests that a comeback for the BJP candidate would require a significant shift in the remaining rounds.

As vote counting in the Assembly elections progresses, a wave in favour of the UDF is emerging in Kerala. The UDF is leading in 97 constituencies. The ongoing trends indicate a strong anti-incumbency sentiment in the state. Even LDF ministers are trailing in several seats. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan falling behind has put the LDF in a difficult position.

In Assam, ECI trends indicated that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), was leading in 98 seats in Assam. The Congress-led alliance was ahead in 26 constituencies, while the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) was leading in 2 seats, according to the latest updates.
