India has made its first-ever seizure of Captagon, the banned stimulant widely referred to as the “Jihadi Drug”, with the consignment valued at Rs 182 crore, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday.

Sharing the latest update on X, Shah said the breakthrough was achieved under “Operation RAGEPILL” led by the Narcotics Control Bureau. He added that a foreign national has also been arrested in connection with the case.

The seized drug consignment was reportedly destined for the Middle East, according to the Home Minister’s statement. Calling the operation a major success in India’s anti-drug crackdown, Shah reiterated the Narendra Modi government’s commitment to building a “Drug-Free India”.

“Glad to share that through ‘Operation RAGEPILL’, our agencies have achieved the first-ever seizure of Captagon, the so-called “Jihadi Drug”, worth ₹182 crore,” Shah wrote.

He further said the operation reflects the government’s “zero tolerance against drugs” policy and warned that authorities would continue to act against narcotics networks using India as a transit route.

“The busting of the drug consignment destined for the Middle East and the arrest of a foreign national stand out as shining examples of our commitment to zero tolerance against drugs,” he said.

Shah also praised officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau for carrying out the operation.

“I repeat we will clamp down on every gram of drugs entering India or leaving the country using our territory as the transit route,” the minister said.
