A viral video showing a human hand hanging from the boot of a car in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, sparked widespread concern online earlier this week. The footage, which was filmed on Monday evening around 6.45 pm, quickly gained traction after being shared across various social media platforms. The shocking sight of the hand dangling from the trunk prompted local authorities to investigate the incident.

According to media reports, within two hours of the video being shared, the Navi Mumbai police identified the vehicle based on its number plate. They located the car and interrogated the owner, only to uncover an unexpected twist. The investigation revealed that the video was part of a promotional stunt for a laptop shop, rather than a sinister or criminal act.

The boys involved, who were from Mumbai, had travelled to Navi Mumbai to attend a wedding. According to police officials, the group created the video to promote a special offer on laptops. After speaking with the suspects, police confirmed that no criminal activity or suspicious elements were involved.

The video was intended to be a playful content piece for a social media reel. In the footage, a hand is shown hanging outside the trunk of the car. As the car is driven, a biker stops the vehicle, and the driver is asked to open the boot. When the boot is opened, the boy whose hand was seen dangling emerges, claiming, "Got afraid? But I’m not dead, I’m alive." He then goes on to promote the laptop offer.

This incident highlights the growing trend of dangerous and potentially illegal stunts being filmed for viral social media content. While these videos often gain attention, experts warn that they can have serious legal consequences. Authorities have urged the public to avoid engaging in risky or unlawful activities for the sake of content creation.
