Navi Mumbai Airport witnessed a major aviation security drill on September 22, with the CISF simulating a hijacked aircraft landing to test the emergency response and coordination of multiple agencies.

The Annual Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME) 2026 was conducted by the CISF Airport Security Group (ASG) Navi Mumbai under the approved contingency plan.

The simulated hijacking scenario brought together the CISF, Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), local police, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), Intelligence Bureau, National Security Guard, airlines, medical teams, Air Traffic Control, Krystal and the Bureau of Immigration.

The Aerodrome Committee was also activated during the exercise, with all concerned stakeholders assembling at the Airport Crisis Coordination Room (ACCR).

The exercise was designed to assess inter-agency coordination and preparedness in dealing with an aviation security emergency. CISF said the successful drill reflected the coordinated efforts of the participating agencies to maintain readiness for potential security contingencies at the airport.
