A shocking CCTV video from Maharashtra’s Nagpur shows a grandmother allegedly throwing boiling water on her four-year-old grandson after becoming angry when he sprayed Holi colour on her.

A disturbing incident during Holi celebrations in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district left a four-year-old boy with severe burn injuries after his grandmother allegedly threw boiling water on him following a minor altercation over colours.
The incident took place on March 3 in Ward No. 2 of the Aramshin locality in the Koradi area and was recorded on a nearby CCTV camera, according to a report by news agency PTI.
Police said the young boy, identified as Om, was playing outside his house and enjoying the festive atmosphere with a spray bottle filled with coloured water or paint. During the playful activity, some of the colour accidentally landed on his grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray.
At the time, the woman was reportedly filling a bucket with water that had been heated on a traditional Holi bonfire. Authorities said she became angry after being sprayed with colour. In a moment of rage, she allegedly threw the hot water from the bucket onto the child.
The boiling water caused serious burn injuries to the boy, particularly on the lower part of his body. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Nagpur for treatment.
Doctors treating him estimated that he suffered burns covering around 45 per cent of his body.
Police officials said they have begun the process of registering a case against the woman in connection with the incident.
The CCTV footage that surfaced online shows the grandmother walking while carrying a bucket of water. The child approaches her playfully and attempts to spray colour on her using the bottle. Moments later, the woman is seen flinging the water towards the child.
The boy can be seen screaming in pain and jumping away after the water hits him.
In the footage, another woman present at the scene appears to rush toward the child with another bucket, believed to contain cold water.
She pours it over him in an apparent attempt to reduce the burning sensation. Shortly afterward, the grandmother is also seen helping to pour cold water on the injured child.
Meanwhile, another Holi-related incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, where a dispute over playing with colours escalated into violence between two groups.
Police said at least 11 people were injured after an argument turned into a physical clash. According to reports, members of the two groups allegedly attacked each other with sticks, batons, and iron rods for nearly ten minutes before locals intervened to calm the situation.
A resident named Avdhesh told PTI that members of the rival group allegedly entered his house when no male members were present and assaulted his family. He said he and others were also beaten when they tried to stop the attack. Authorities said the situation has now been brought under control.
