The woman alleges that the driver deviated from the planned route and allowed the men to enter the cab

Mumbai: A shocking incident of sexual harassment has been reported in Mumbai involving an Uber driver and two unidentified men. A 28-year-old airline pilot was allegedly targeted during an Uber ride on Thursday night. The woman's husband, a Navy officer, had booked the Uber ride for her after she finished dinner at a restaurant in south Mumbai. However, the driver deviated from the route and allowed two men to board the cab. One of the men, who sat next to the woman in the backseat, allegedly touched her inappropriately. When the woman protested, the man threatened her, and the driver failed to intervene.
The situation took a turn when the accused noticed police checking ahead on the highway, prompting the two men to flee the scene. The woman reached home and narrated the incident to her husband, who then accompanied her to file a complaint with the Ghatkopar police. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Uber driver and the two unidentified men under sections 75(1) (sexual harassment), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police are now working to identify and apprehend the accused. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of women using ride-hailing services in Mumbai.
